Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, was given an ultimatum by her parents in eighth grade: if she quit softball, she had to play another school sport.
Monteith recalled,
"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I've played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"until she got to high school and tried out for the golf team.
Her parents' motivation was clear:
"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"and Monteith agreed,
"I wasn't about to sit around, either."
Author's summary: Marissa Monteith rises in golf charts.
