Dredging begins again in Channel Islands Harbor

Dredging equipment has returned to the Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, California. The U.S Army Corps of Engineers project is usually done every other year, but last year, permitting issues delayed the work.

The project aims to remove sand at the mouth of the harbor to facilitate boat traffic and will send sand through a pipeline to the beach impacted by erosion! in Port Hueneme. It is expected to be complete early next year.

In the area, sea lions are causing problems, particularly near new dock construction. Crews have attempted to keep them away by posting poles and colorful tape, but the sea lions continue to sun themselves on the new docks.

Isn't easy keeping them off anything.

The presence of sea lions is becoming a concern in the area.
