Valentin Vacherot secured his first ATP title by defeating his cousin Arthur Rinderknech at the Shanghai Masters.
As an alternate player, Vacherot entered the main draw for the first time in his career and went on to win the Masters 1000 event.
He became the fifth man in history to win his first ATP title in a Masters 1000 level, following Jakub Mensik, who won the Miami Open earlier this year.
Vacherot's successful run included a semifinal win against 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, who was the fifth-seeded player.
