Teen Arrested on Weapons Charges After Foot Chase in Santa Maria
A 15-year-old was arrested after allegedly discarding a loaded, unserialized handgun during a foot chase with officers on Friday evening in Santa Maria.
According to the Santa Maria Police Department, officers with the Gang Suppression Team were patrolling the area of Western Avenue and Kingston Drive around 5:21 p.m. when they saw two juvenile males walking south.
- Officers saw one of the juveniles reaching for his waistband and making suspicious movements.
- When officers approached, the juveniles immediately fled on foot.
- One of the juveniles was seen discarding a gun during the chase.
