SoCal Freeway Shut Down Due to Live Ammunition Event
A 17-mile stretch of Southern California's I-5 freeway was shut down on Saturday due to a military event involving live ammunition at Camp Pendleton.
The event was part of the U.S. Marine Corps' 250th anniversary celebration. The closure, which lasted from 11 a.m., impacted both sides of the freeway from Harbor Drive in Oceanside to Basilone Road near San Onofre, causing heavy traffic congestion.

Video footage from California officials showed live munitions being fired near the freeway on Friday, appearing to be a practice run. The freeway has since reopened on Saturday afternoon.
