Legacy Elementary, which replaces Robb Elementary, where 19 students and two teachers were killed in a mass shooting in 2022, will welcome students on October.
Nearly 3½ years after a gunman shot and killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, a new school built to replace the site of the shooting is complete and ready to welcome students.
The new school, Legacy Elementary, is designed with safety features, including bullet-resistant windows and key card access to classrooms.
A public ceremony was held to introduce the school to the community, and families of the victims were given a private tour earlier in the week.
It's a "bittersweet day" for families and the town.
