The plan to redevelop Paseo Nuevo shopping mall was criticized by members of the City of Santa Barbara’s Planning Commission on October 9.
Boardmembers pointed out problems with the city's plan to use publicly owned land, which includes 233 units of market rate housing and 80 units of affordable housing.
The City Council will decide whether to approve a development agreement in December.
The commission’s review may be the only chance to assess the project before the City Council considers approval.
