Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has given Speaker Mike Johnson a 2-day ultimatum to schedule Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva's swearing-in ceremony, or she will take legal action.
Rep.-elect Grijalva has not been sworn in three weeks after being elected to represent Arizona's 7th Congressional District.
In a letter to Johnson's office, Mayes stated that the oath of office ceremony must take place before the end of the federal government shutdown.
Mayes announced that she was sending the letter during the official canvas of the Sept. 23 special election results.
