Mandatory Neurodiversity Training for Educators
An MHK is calling for mandatory neurodiversity and inclusive practice training in education across the Isle of Man.
Douglas East member Joney Faragher will table a motion at this month's Tynwald sitting, recognizing the principle that training in neurodiversity should form a core part of teacher training and professional development.
Training in neurodiversity, the impact of neurodiversity on learning, and adaptive and inclusive practice should form a core part of teacher training and professional development.
- The proposed training would be embedded into core provision.
- A phased timeline would be produced, starting with Headteachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs).
- The timeline would be reported back to Tynwald by February 2026.
