Lane Hutson Signs Eight-Year Contract with Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have officially signed Lane Hutson to an eight-year contract worth $8.85 million per season, effective next summer.

To convince Hutson to sign, General Manager Kent Hughes worked tirelessly, initially attempting to negotiate a deferred-money contract. However, Hutson declined, preferring a more straightforward deal.

Lane Hutson can just play now. He signed very similar deal #GoHabsGo had on table for him weeks ago – slightly less total $ than a deal with deferred money. – Frank Seravalli (@frank_seravalli) October 13, 2025

The contract includes a small no-trade clause and the vast majority of the contract, $55M out of $70M, in bonuses.

Author's summary: Lane Hutson signs with Montreal Canadiens for 8 years.
